Special to the News
Mr. Phillips teaches ninth grade geometry and tenth grade algebra at Central High School. This is Mr. Phillips’ twentieth year in education and his second year at Central High School.
Phillips said, “I really enjoy teaching at Central and look forward to coming to work everyday.”
He added, “I am so happy to be here. I absolutely love being around the kids everyday. I look forward to seeing them and interacting with them. The students have become like a family to me.”
Mr. Phillips strives to create an inclusive and respectful environment where all students feel valued. He offers a sense of community by encouraging open communication, mutual respect and collaboration while emphasizing the importance of being responsible citizens by modeling integrity, kindness and accountability.
He also strives to inspire and guide students towards a deeper understanding of mathematics while helping them develop the confidence to apply their skills beyond the classroom. His goal ultimately is for the students to see the importance of math in the real world and the impact of being responsible and respectful citizens who can contribute positively to their school and community.
Mr. Phillips also drives the Butterfly Bus 22-07 every morning and evening and helps out whenever help is needed. He is currently in the process of starting a track and field team at Central.
Phillips is married to Jannah Phillips, Central Elementary librarian, and together they have four kids: Chloe, Levi, EllaRuth, and Heidi (current eleventh grader at CHS).
Congratulations, Mr. Phillips.
