Bertha Kelly-McElrath, Coosa County commissioner, recently completed her service as a member of the Association of County Commissions of Alabama (ACCA) Liability Self-Insurance Fund (LSIF) Board of Trustees.
Throughout her tenure, Kelly-McElrath provided steady guidance and championed responsible risk management for Alabama’s counties.
As a Board member, she advanced LSIF’s mission to protect public resources and deliver reliable, cost-effective insurance coverage tailored to county governments. Her work reflected a deep commitment to public service and a clear understanding of the financial challenges local governments face.
“Commissioner Kelly-McElrath offered valuable insight and steadfast guidance during her time on the Board,” said ACCA Executive Director Sonny Brasfield. “Her dedication and collaborative spirit have made a lasting impact on the Liability Fund and counties across Alabama.”
Established in 1986, the LSIF is a county-operated insurance pool designed to meet the unique liability, property and cyber coverage needs of Alabama counties. Today, the LSIF serves 59 counties with liability coverage, 42 counties with property coverage and 27 counties with cyber coverage – all while maintaining a strong focus on fiscal responsibility and long-term sustainability.
The LSIF is governed by a 15-member Board of Trustees composed of county officials and employees. The Board’s commitment to financial stewardship ensures counties receive dependable protection and meaningful cost savings.
ACCA is a statewide organization speaking for all 67 counties with ONE voice. It promotes improved county government services in Alabama, offers educational programs for county officials and their staff members, administers insurance programs for county governments and employees, offers legal advice, and represents the interests of county government before state and federal organizations and agencies.
