The Sheriff’s Office would like to caution area residents to be aware of a recent scam.
Sheriff Michael Howell stated that there are residents of Coosa County being contacted by people claiming to be with the Coosa County Sheriff’s Office. They are demanding the individual send money to keep from going to jail.
The Coosa County Sheriff’s Office will never contact anyone by phone demanding money. Do NOT fall for this scam.
The scam callers are also claiming to be with the Coosa Court Clerk’s Office demanding money for unpaid fines or a warrant will be sworn out for the individual. The Clerk’s Office will also never contact you via phone demanding money.
