In My Humble Opinion
Jodi McDade
This is one of the very best weeks of the year, in my opinion! This week we focus on all that we have to be thankful for, not only this week, but throughout the year.
We should be thankful for the goodness of God, our families, our friends, and our churches, in addition to many other things.
The government shutdown is finally over – thank you! People are returning to work – thank you! Benefits for those who need them are being sent again – thank you!
As bad as the shutdown was it did give us an opportunity to really understand how good we have it in normal circumstances. Unlike people in other countries, we have SO much to be thankful for even if we don’t realize it.
Under normal circumstances we should be thankful for the wonderful people in our lives. We cannot truly experience happiness without people to share it with. Even if you do not have family close by I hope you have neighbors, friends, church family, and others to share your days with.
I know for a fact that the people volunteering at Manna Ministries in Rockford absolutely love all the great people who come to our activities! Thinking as I write this, I realize that without Rockford Baptist Church and Manna Ministries I would be pretty much alone. My family members don’t live nearby so I am so VERY thankful for all of the people in my life here in Rockford! I hope and pray all of you have these types of people in your life, too!
Those of us with Manna Ministries and Rockford Baptist Church are so thankful for all of our friends who came to eat Thanksgiving Dinner with us last Thursday! We fed just over 300 people who came in and visited with us, came by and took dinner home to their families, or had a meal delivered to them. We treasure each and every one of them, and we look forward to continuing to provide food to those in need.
The rest of 2025 is going to go by faster than a slippery slide! Only a week away from the Christmas activities and parades, driving around to see the Christmas lights all over the area, and less than a month from Christmas Day itself.
Please continue to count your many blessings between now and New Year’s Day. Be ready to start 2026 with a happy heart by making changes in attitude and feelings between now and then!
I am so thankful for all of you who read my columns – regardless if you agree with me or not! I appreciate all of the comments and support you send me.
I am so blessed to know so many of you in all areas of Coosa County, and I thank God for each of you. HAPPY THANKSGIVING TO YOU ALL!
