Once again Triple R Cafe in Rockford is gearing up for the holidays and demonstrating the giving spirit with its eighth annual Thanksgiving lunch.
The local restaurant will be open next Thursday on Thanksgiving from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Like always, a special menu is prepared to offer guests traditional Thanksgiving fare.
The menu will include fried turkey breast, ham, chicken dressing, giblet gravy, macaroni and cheese, green beans, kernel corn, turnip greens, sweet potato casserole, peach cobbler, and chocolate eclair.
In addition to being an unusual offering in such a small town, with a restaurant being open on the holiday, there is another aspect of the meal that sets it apart from many others.
In continuing its tradition, Triple R’s Thanksgiving lunch is a free meal. This allows anyone who may need it the chance to have a good filling meal at no cost.
However, donations will be accepted, and many give donations for their meal each year. For this year’s special lunch, all donations will be given to the Coosa County Department of Human Resources’ food pantry and to Manna Ministries, an outreach of Rockford Baptist Church that also assists with food insecurity.
For those who would rather not cook but who do not want to dine out on Thursday, Triple R also offers catering options.
Whole smoked turkeys, smoked shank portion ham and half pans of chicken dressing, squash dressing, green bean casserole, sweet potato casserole, and funeral potatoes are available as part of the restaurant’s catering menu.
Pick up dates are tomorrow, November 22; Wednesday, November 26; and Thursday, November 27.
