Special to the News
Almost 30 college, military and business representatives provided displays, discussions and information for students and the community at the Coosa County Schools annual College and Career Fair.
Many representatives brought interactive displays which allowed the students and other attendees to test their skill aptitude in particular career fields. The entire student body of the high school attended the fair, as well as members from the community.
Upon returning to class the students were abuzz with talk of jobs, military careers and college opportunities and the connections they made with local businesses, military recruiters and college representatives.
If you are a local business or nonprofit who would like to participate in next year’s event or assist with other workforce prep events such as mock interviews, please email our College and Career Coach, Karen Hayes, at khayes@coosaschools.org so she can send you information as it becomes available.
We would like to thank each organization and each representative for taking time to present information to help the students at Central High School prepare for a successful future, including the U.S. Air Force, the Alabama Career Center of Alex City, the Alabama National Guard, the Alabama Department of Transportation, Auburn Facilities, Aveda Arts & Sciences, Bill Nichols Veterans Home, Central Alabama Community College (CACC), CACC Tech, ENEOS, Faulkner University, Jacksonville State University, Kellyton Fire Department, Madix, the U.S. Marine Corp, Montgomery Fire, Nelson Electric Motor Services, Prime Management, Southern Union State Community College, the University of Alabama (UA), UA at Birmingham, the Coosa County Sheriff’s Office, Alabama One, Troy University, SAFE, AU College of Education, Mobile, Modern Manufacturing Center of Excellence, Talladega College, and U.S. Navy.
