A woman from the Stewartville area was arrested last Tuesday on warrants and drug-related charges.
On September 30, Deputy Brown responded to a call on Sarah Lane in reference to harassment. He was told that a Ms. Hamilton had been in the victim’s yard yelling at him to go back inside his residence before she harmed him.
Upon arriving on the scene, Brown made contact with the suspect two residences down. She claimed that she had been at home all night.
While he was investigating the case, dispatch notified Brown that the suspect, 39-year-old Charity Lynn Hamilton, had outstanding warrants in Coosa County. Those warrants were for reckless endangerment and menacing.
As such, Hamilton was arrested on those warrants and transported to the Coosa County Jail.
While she was being booked in, as a corrections officer patted her down, a bag fell out of Hamilton’s bra. The bag contained a white crystal-like substance that tested positive for methamphetamine.
Hamilton then was further charged with second-degree promoting prison contraband and possession of a controlled substance.
Her total bond for all four charges was set at $16,500. As of press time she remained in custody at the Coosa County Jail awaiting trial.
Anyone who observes or suspects illegal activity is encouraged to report it to the Coosa County Sheriff’s Office at 256-377-4922 or online at www.coosacountyso.org. Anonymous tips are also welcome.
