A citizen’s call ultimately led to the arrest of a nude man for indecent exposure and an unrelated charge last week.
On September 21, Deputy Brown responded to County Road 110 in the Richville area because of a naked man on someone’s property. Brown talked to the caller, who lives nearby, about what she observed.
Reportedly the male was walking around the property naked and would not leave. He was also pressing his body against her sliding glass door.
Brown went on to make contact with the suspect, who was sitting naked in his residence at the time. As Brown began conducting an interview, the suspect became irate and seemed intoxicated.
Brown attempted to arrest the suspect, and he became combative, shoving Brown. While going to the patrol car, the suspect attempted to break away once again, pushing against Brown.
Finally he was placed into the patrol car and transported to the Coosa County Jail without further incident.
Austin Ray Vines, 27 years old, of Clanton, was arrested for indecent exposure and resisting arrest, in addition to probation violation.
His bond was set at $1,500 for the indecent exposure and resisting arrest charges, and he received no bond for the probation violation. As of press time he remains in custody at the Coosa County Jail awaiting trial.
Anyone who observes or suspects illegal activity is encouraged to report it to the Sheriff’s Office at 256-377-4922 or online at www.coosacountyso.org. Anonymous tips are also welcome.
