Life Skills classes have been utilizing the life skills facility at the Coosa County Tech Center. They are training for independent living by learning to cook, which included making cookies from scratch.
The lesson provided the students an opportunity to have fun while learning.
The students practiced math skills, including fractions by dividing recipes in half and multiplication by doubling the recipes. They also used their reading skills in order to follow the directions of the recipes.
In addition, students worked on soft skills such as team work, as they worked on the lessons collaboratively, and the responsibility of cleaning up their cooking area and cookware.
The students were able to see that hard work pays off by enjoying the fruits of their labor at the end of the class.
Thank you to special education teacher Jordan Bryant for sharing pictures and information and providing an opportunity for our students to be prepared for life with real life experiences.
