On Sunday, August 24, a contraband incident was reported at Elmore Correctional Facility.
During visitation hours, a body scan detected concealed objects on the person of Kyria Latham as she
was attempting to enter the facility. During a pat search, two packages were recovered containing:
- Approximately 46 grams of Fentanyl
- Approximately 95 pills of Oxycontin and Hydrocodone
- Approximately 6 grams of sprayed paper
- Approximately 55 grams of synthetic cannabinoids
- 4 Apple iPhones
Latham was detained for further investigation. She was then transported to the Elmore County Jail and charged with first- and second-degree promoting prison contraband and drug trafficking fentanyl.
The ADOC investigation is ongoing, and additional charges may be pending.
