A single-vehicle crash that occurred at approximately 3 p.m. Monday, August 11, has claimed the life of a Sylacauga man.
James E. Carter Jr., 76, was fatally injured when the 2014 Nissan Versa he was driving left the roadway and struck an embankment. Carter was not using a seat belt at the time of the crash and was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The crash occurred on U.S. Highway 231 near the 185-mile marker, approximately three miles south of Rockford, in Coosa County.
Nothing further is available as troopers with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency Highway Patrol Division continue to investigate.
