A two-vehicle crash that occurred at approximately 8:10 p.m. Thursday, July 31, has claimed the life of a Clanton man.
Devin M. Chapman, 33, was fatally injured when the 2007 Yamaha XV 1700 motorcycle that he was operating was struck by a vehicle that left the scene of the crash.
As a result of the impact, Chapman was thrown from the motorcycle and was pronounced deceased at the scene of the crash.
The crash occurred on Interstate 65 near the 228-mile marker, approximately one mile north of Calera, in Shelby County.
Nothing further is available as troopers with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s Highway Patrol Division continue to investigate.
The vehicle involved in the crash, along with the driver, are currently unknown. If anyone has information concerning the crash, please contact ALEA Troopers at 205-322-4691.
