Richville Rundown
Sheila Ward
School is back in session! So continue to watch for school buses stopping to pick up and drop off students.
Forgot to say happy birthday to all those who are celebrating this month, including my brother and my youngest daughter.
The Richville Volunteer Fire Department’s Bingo night will be this Saturday, August 9, at 6:30 p.m. This is the last one until December so mark your calendars to come join in on the fun. Concessions are sold, also. For bingo, $10 gets you 20 games of play.
They are taking orders for the Labor Day Boston Butt sale. They are $35! Since Labor Day falls on September 1 this year, pickup will be on Saturday, August 30, between 7 and 9 a.m. Be sure and get on their list as they usually sell out.
The Back-to-School Bash at Providence Baptist Church was a lot of fun even with the rain changing the games planned. Everyone had a good time.
Providence Baptist Church will host our Second Annual Fishing Tournament on Saturday, September 6, at Barretts on Lake Mitchell. Put it on your calendar with more details in the next week.
My Bible verses this week are about anxiety. Philippians 4:6-7 reads, “Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”
There are many types of anxiety, but this time of year most are connected with school. From the kindergartner to the seniors, teachers and support staff, parents, etc. this time of year makes us anxious about all kinds of things.
Most of these worries are emotions that are small to others, but huge to you! However, we can depend on God to get us through them.
It is normal for us to experience fear and anxiety, especially in new situations, but we need to remember that God is there with us. Just say a little prayer to yourself asking God to help you as you encounter these emotions.
Taking baby steps today will help us to overcome our fears and anxieties. Remember to take a deep breath, put a smile on your face and face the world! If we start with the little worries, the big ones will be easier to handle.
Be in prayer for the ones that have lost a loved one and that are sick in our community. But also, think about giving someone a call just to say hello; it will make a difference in their day. Many times, when we go out to spread blessings to others, it’s us that gets the blessing.
Organizations in the area, as well as churches, I need your events! If your family has some news or an event to share, please contact me. I would prefer text to 334-414-7147 or emails to wardgrand6@gmail.com, but phone calls will be fine, too. If you don’t get me when you call, be sure to leave a message.
