A two-vessel related incident involving personal watercrafts, or PWCs, at approximately 2 p.m. Monday, July 7, has claimed the life of a 17-year-old juvenile from Tennessee.
The 17-year-old was fatally injured after falling from an inflatable tube which was being towed by an 11-foot SEADOO PWC operated by another 17-year-old juvenile, also from Tennessee.
Once the 17-year-old fell from the tube, the teen was struck by a 10-foot SEADOO PWC operated by Kevin E. Burlison, 48, of Pulaski, Tenn.
The 17-year-old was transported to a local area hospital where the teen was later pronounced deceased.
The incident occurred on Elk River off of Wheeler Lake near Athens in Limestone County.
Nothing further is available as troopers with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s Marine Patrol Division continue to investigate.
