United Way looking for volunteers, sponsors
By Christa Jennings
Senior Staff Writer
The Lake Martin Area United Way is once again planning for its annual Day of Action, with Central High School Coosa County’s day being July 18.
As part of the 2025 United Way Day of Action, the organization is looking for both volunteers and sponsors to help make the day a success. Numerous projects are planned at the high school for the day to help get the school ready for the 2025-2026 school year.
Central’s Day of Action is from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. All student volunteers will receive four hours of community service, even if everyone finishes up early.
Individual volunteers can sign up online at www.unitedwaylakemartin.org/day-action. There they can select which school they would like to volunteer at and select their shirt size if they would like a shirt.
A new option added this year is group registration. So if a “group” is coming, such as BridgeWays or several people from the same employer, they can sign up as a group at www.unitedwaylakemartin.org/form/day-of-caring-team-registration.
Layfield hopes to have numerous volunteers as the more help they have, the more they can do and the faster they can get everything done.
In addition to volunteers, United Way is looking for sponsors to make a financial donation to help with the purchase of supplies for the projects or to donate water, Gatorade and snacks for the volunteers.
For more information on donations or sponsorships, contact Courtney Layfield, executive director of Lake Martin Area United Way, at 256-329-3600 or via email to courtney.layfield@unitedwaylakemartin.org.
