Cougars advance to sub-regionals tomorrow

The Central Coosa boys basketball team won the Area Tournament Monday night with their win against Horseshoe Bend with a score of 65-57. Central advanced to the Area Championship game Wednesday against Vincent at Vincent, winning with a close score of 56-53.
The Cougars kept the fans on the edge of their seats and on their feet throughout the fourth quarter. With 33 seconds left in the game the score was tied, 51-51.
The Yellow Jackets fouled Jacquez Parker, who made one of his free throws, taking the score to 52-51 with 30 seconds left in the game. The Yellow Jackets scored a two pointer, but Kaleb Ballard followed suit, taking the score to 54-53 with 12 seconds left in the game.
The Yellow Jackets then fouled Javon Thomas, who made both his free throws, taking the score to 56-53 with three seconds left in the game, sealing the 2A Area Championship for the Central Cougars.
Alex Williams and Kaleb Ballard were awarded All-Area and LaCorrian Thompson was awarded Area MVP with 17.7 average points per game.

Central Coosa advances to the sub-regionals, at home, Saturday at 6 p.m. Tickets can be purchased on GoFan.
