Equality & NIxburg News
Jennifer Williamson
To start off, I do apologize; I misinformed you about Equality Volunteer Fire Department’s First Saturday for January.
There was no fundraising event for January, and there will not be one in February. The volunteer fire department is using this time to update the lodge building.
Bingo may or may not occur based on participation. If you show up it may happen; if you don’t then it probably will be canceled. So, show up and have some fun supporting your local volunteer fire department.
Update on the orange cat: it was not the missing cat from Nixburg, so it is still an added barn cat to our homestead. Nobody reached out about the gray and white cat, so it is still here, as well. At least we won’t have a rodent problem in the barn.
Coosa County Live Open Mic Night is tonight, January 10, from 7 to 9 p.m. We realize with the cold weather and possible rain and freezing temps many will not get out, but it will still happen, and we will have the heat on and hot coffee, as well.
While it is not mandatory, you are encouraged to bring a dish of shareable food for our “Potluck,” and if you can afford to drop something into the donation jar for the music, it helps keep the lights on. Coosa Live provides free coffee, iced tea, water, and fresh-popped popcorn, as well as some of the potluck offerings.
The Neighborhood Watch meeting is the fourth Thursday, January 23. Please plan to attend and participate in this community event including a potluck, safety updates, sheriff report, and fellowship with neighbors. It starts at 6:30 p.m.
Bingo is the last Saturday of the month, January 25, at 4 p.m. at the Equality Volunteer Fire Department Lodge, if there is enough participation. You will notice the large sign on the front of the building identifying it as the Lodge.
Bingo cards are $1 each, with all proceeds going to support the Equality Volunteer Fire Department. Come join in for an afternoon of fun and fellowship.
I depend upon my readers to share with me what is happening within your organizations, churches, neighborhoods, groups, or family to share in next week’s column. Please contact me; leave a voice message or text 256-531-6460 or email at coosacafe@gmail.com.
