Richville Rundown
Sheila Ward
Well 2025 has certainly started off as windy! We are supposed to be in for some cold weather with the chance of snow!
Predicting snow is always iffy for our area. Hope everyone has all their outdoor pipes wrapped or protected along with their pets and plants. Winter has finally showed up!
The first Bingo night of 2025 for the Richville Volunteer Fire Department will be tomorrow, January 11, at 6:30 p.m. Make plans to attend and maybe win a prize or two. They sell concessions, also. We always have fun and a great time, so put it on your calendar.
Finally, all the days are beginning to be on schedule. With Christmas and New Year’s, it seems we have had a lot of Saturdays and Sundays. I love the holidays, but glad to get back to a more regular routine.
Sorry to hear of the passing of former President Jimmy Carter. While I’m not sure how great of a president he was, he was indeed a great humanitarian. He set an example for others to follow, doing what he could to help families get into their own home.
My Bible reading to read through the entire Bible in 2025 is lagging a little; I’m a few chapters behind schedule. Now that the holidays are over, I’ll try to catch up and get back on track.
So continuing with verses about living life with purpose, the verses this week are often called “the Great Commission.” Matthew 28:19-20 reads, “Go, therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”
We should be actively spreading the Christian faith. There are three commands for Christians to follow in these verses, make disciples, baptizing them and teaching them to obey all Jesus commands. Making disciples is central to this verse, meaning to teach and train people to follow Jesus and His teachings.
We don’t have to become missionaries, but we should tell others about Jesus. That is crucial to spreading the gospel, by witnessing and telling others about what Jesus has done in our lives.
Next, it says to baptize; that is just a symbol of our new life with Christ. Then, the last part expresses the importance of living our lives to follow Jesus’ commands. These verses also promise us that Jesus will be with us if we believe in Him.
Please be in prayer for all those that are sick in our community. But also, think about giving someone a call just to say hello; it will make a difference in their day. Many times, when we go out to spread blessings to others, it’s us that gets the blessing.
