While many area youth are excitedly looking forward to opening presents in the coming weeks, the Sheriff’s Office is once again looking to make the holiday special for those less fortunate.
Sheriff Michael Howell and the Sheriff’s Office are hosting the fourth annual Shop with the Sheriff. This is a program that allows others to give while also helping brighten the holidays for area youth.
The Sheriff’s Office is accepting cash donations now through December 15 to help children this Christmas season, striving to put smiles on as many children’s faces as they can.
While some youth use the experience to buy toys and fun gifts, others use it as a time to buy necessities that might be hard to come by otherwise. Howell recalled one season during the program when teenagers asked to get a simple pair of shoes and a backpack for the next school year rather than electronics or toys.
Those who would like to make a donation to help a child in need this Christmas are asked to contact the Sheriff’s Office. Also, anyone who knows of any families that may need help this year is also asked to contact the Sheriff’s Office and provide information so that the office can help as many children as possible this year.
