Two men from Talladega County were arrested Wednesday on charges related to theft from utility trucks.

On Monday, October 28, the Sheriff’s Office dispatch received a call from the Marble Valley area stating that several Southern Electric Corporation trucks had been broken into between October 25-28.

Investigators responded to the scene and found that three of the company’s trucks had been broken into. The company was notified, and the three drivers who were affected provided descriptions of the items that were missing.

On October 29, the investigations department got a lead on the case. Investigators Travis Ward and Donald Hodge followed up on the lead and found stolen property at two suspects’ residences.

After further investigation, two individuals were arrested, 38-year-old Brandon Scott Acklin of Sylacauga and 25-year-old Christopher Dylan Green of Childersburg.

Both were arrested Wednesday, and each of them was charged with three counts of unlawful breaking and entering of a motor vehicle and one count each of first-degree theft of property, third-degree theft of property and fourth-degree theft of property.

The total bond for all six charges for each of them was set at $42,500. As of press time both Acklin and Green remained in custody at the Coosa County Jail awaiting trial.

Stolen property was recovered on October 29, with $11,153 worth of equipment being recovered by investigators for the company.

Anyone who sees or suspects illegal activity is encouraged to report it to the Coosa County Sheriff’s Office at 256-377-4922 or online at www.coosacountyso.org. Anonymous tips are also welcome.
