Funeral service for Mrs. Glenda Gail Hooks, 61, of Alexander City, was Friday, April 17, 2026, at Hillview Memorial Park.

Mrs. Glenda Gail Hooks passed away on Tuesday, April 14, 2026, at Russell Medical, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and devotion to her family and friends.

Glenda was born on August 23, 1964, to Obie Fuler and Cora Tidwell. She grew up with the values of faith, hard work, family, and those qualities remained at the center of her life. She was a Christian and lived her life in a way that reflected her beliefs, her kindness, and her care for others.
Those who knew her best will remember her as funny, loving, and passionate, a woman whose warm spirit could brighten a room and whose presence brought comfort to the people she loved.

For several years, Glenda worked at Madix, where she was known for her dependable nature and strong work ethic. She took pride in doing her best and in serving others with a steady and caring heart. Her life marked not only by the work she did, but also by the way she carried herself each day, with grace, strength, and a genuine concern for those around her.

Family was the center of Glenda’s world, and she treasured every moment spent with her loved ones. She is survived by her husband, David Randall Hooks; her sons, James Carey (Brandon Forister), Jeffrey Hooks, and Michael Hooks and his wife, Hollie; and her daughter, Shasta Brown and her husband, Ben. She is also survived by her sister, Marie Brown, and her husband, Don. Her memory will live on in her grandchildren, Caleb Hooks, Devin Brown, Kaley Brown, Alyssa Hooks, Kaden Hooks, TJ Hooks, Zachary Hooks, Ayden Hooks, and Drake Hooks, as well as in the many nieces and nephews who loved her dearly.

Glenda found great joy in the simple and meaningful things in life. She enjoyed diamond painting and adult coloring books, and she loved sewing for her family. She also found peace in gardening and took great pride in growing beautiful roses. Above all, she cherished time spent with her grandchildren, who brought her immense happiness and filled her days with laughter and love. Her home and her heart were always open, and she creates a place of warmth and comfort for those fortunate enough to know her.

She was preceded in death by her father, Obie Fuller; her mother, Cora Tidwell; her grandson, Alec Hooks; and her brother, Verlin Tidwell. Though her earthly journey has ended, the love she gave and the memories she created will continue to bless her family for years to come.

Glenda Gail Hooks will be remembered for her sweet spirit, her devotion to her family, and the joy she brought into the lives of others. Her life was a beautiful reflection of love, faith, and perseverance, and her memory will remain forever in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.

Michael Lee Shaw

Funeral service for Mr. Michael Lee Shaw, 59, of Goodwater, was Friday, April 17, 2026, at the Chapel of Radney Funeral Home. Bro. Jimmy Brown officiated. Burial followed in the Union Church and Cemetery.
Michael Lee Shaw, known to family and friends as Michael, passed away on April 15, 2026, in Goodwater, at the age of 59.
He was born on September 2, 1966, in Alexander City, and lived a life marked by kindness, humor, and a genuine love for the people around him. Michael was a Christian man whose faith guided him throughout his life and gave strength to those who knew him best. He will be remembered as a funny, selfless, and loving soul who had a gift for making others feel welcome and cared for. He was an active member of Ray Baptist Church.
Michael had a passion for all things fast, loud, and full of life. He loved racing, off-roading, and anything that involved a motor. Whether he was talking about engines, watching races, or spending time around the things he enjoyed most, Michael found joy in the excitement and energy of the moment. His interests reflected his spirited personality and his appreciation for the simple pleasures that made life meaningful to him.
Music was another important part of Michael’s life. He loved music and could often find comfort, enjoyment, and connection through the songs he listened to. More than anything, he treasured time spent with his grandchildren, who brought him great happiness and pride. Those moments with family were among the most cherished in his life, and he held them close to his heart.
Michael is survived by his son, Aubrey Shaw and his wife, Kayla, of Goodwater; his grandchildren, Kayleigh Shaw and Evelyn Shaw; his brothers, Allen Nolen and Raford Shaw and his wife, Lisa; his special loved one, Nikki Wyatt and her husband, Jeffrey; his father, Charles Shaw and his wife, Lavern; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother, Lee H. Hamilton.
Those who knew Michael will remember his warm spirit, his easy laugh, and the way he cared deeply for his family and friends. He had a presence that could brighten a room, and his sense of humor often brought smiles even in difficult times. His selfless nature was evident in the way he loved others, and his family will forever cherish the memories they shared with him.
Michael’s life was one of devotion to the people he loved and the things that brought him joy. He leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and treasured memories that will continue to live on in the hearts of those who knew him best.
