Local eighth grader Kaden Tindall was chosen to serve as a page with the Alabama House of Representatives for Rep. Ben Robbins last week.
Kaden was the second student from Coosa County to be selected for the Legislative Page Program, following Lily Howell serving as a House page last month.
Pages, who are 10-18 years old, assist members of the Legislature during the session by performing errands on the floor.
Those errands typically include obtaining copies of bills, votes, resolutions, amendments, substitutes, and other official documents, as well as delivering messages to members.
Kaden was excited to have the chance to be a House page and described it as “an awesome experience.”
“Being on the House floor and seeing everything happen in real life was so cool,” he said. “I learned a lot and got to see how laws are made and how people work together to help our state.”
“I would like to thank Rep. Ben Robbins for giving me this opportunity,” Kaden added. “I’m really grateful, and it meant a lot to be part of something so important. This is something I’ll never forget, and I’m so thankful I got to do it!”
Each member of the House of Representatives is entitled to one page for two weeks or two pages for one week. However, if a special session is called, each member is only allowed one page.
Robbins elected to have two pages for one week each, both from Coosa County.
“Lily and Kaden were great assets to the Legislature,” Robbins said. “It was a pleasure to meet them. Both of them have great futures.”
