Randall Burl Jones
Funeral service for Mr. Randall Burl Jones, 70, of Equality, was Thursday, January 8, 2026, at the First Baptist Church Alexander City. Dr. Steve King officiated. Burial followed in the New Harmony Cemetery-Equality.
Randall Burl Jones, 70 of Equality, passed away Sunday, January 4, 2026, in Birmingham with his family at his side. A resident of Equality since 2003, Randall was born on August 2, 1955, in Sylacauga to Joseph W. and Eleanor Frances Jones.
After serving six years in the U.S. Air Force from 1976 to 1982, and earning a degree in Civil Engineering, he spent the remainder of his career pursuing his passion as a computer software engineer.
Randy served as a volunteer firefighter with the Real Island Volunteer Fire Department from 2004 to 2025, and he recently retired to his homestead in Equality, where he cherished spending his days with his wife, his son’s family, and friends, and working on projects around his property. He loved music and going to outdoor concerts with friends, traveling with his family and being outdoors working on his sawmill and creating projects to do around his homestead.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jospeh W. Jones Jr. and Eleanor Frances Jones. He is survived by his wife, Candace Jones; his son, Randall “Joey” Jones (Stephanie); grandsons, Tyler Joseph Jones and Jacob Eli Jones; his siblings, Reba Looney, Brenda Jones, Allen Jones (Kaye); aunts; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to Real Island Volunteer Fire Department; 1495 Real Island Road; Equality, AL 36026.

Madeline Fay Snell Lipscomb
Madeline Fay Snell Lipsomb passed away on January 6, 2026. She was born in Headland, Ala., on March 12, 1932. She died at her home in Jacksonville, Fla., surrounded by family and friends. She was 93 years old.
Madeline taught second grade at CCHS Elementary School for 20 years. She was active in PTA, church, school, and community. She always had another place at her table and a little more stock in the pot. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, reading, and building puzzles. Her true vocation was taking care of her home and family.
She was married to Alfred H. Lipscomb for 45 years. She is lovingly remembered by five children: Tim (Tonia) Lipscomb, Harvey (Eva) Lipscomb, Lavada Stophel Henley (Earl-deceased), Cynthia Gibson (Rob-deceased), and Robert (Lori) Lipscomb. She has 16 grandchildren and a garden overflowing with generations of blooms and numerous extended family on both sides.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Alfred H. Lipscomb; sons-in-law, Earl Henley and Rob Gibson; her parents, Harvey and Lois Snell; two sisters; one brother; and two grandchildren.
