Two Goodwater men were arrested last Wednesday on drug-related charges, with one arrested for a possession charge and another for multiple charges, including two counts of drug trafficking.
After receiving complaints of drug activity in Goodwater, Sgt. Ward began investigating narcotic activity in the area. This led to him ultimately obtaining a search warrant for a residence in the Goodwater area.
Last Wednesday, December 3, Ward and the Coosa County Special Response Team, along with the Rockford Police Department and the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s Alabama Drug Enforcement Task Force, executed the search warrant.
Upon their arrival, they noticed the suspect standing outside the front of the house. He proceeded to run into the house and out the back door, attempting to flee.
However, the suspect, 47-year-old Terrell Kelly, was detained, and a search of the property was conducted.
That search of the residence led to locating 107 grams of synthetic marijuana, 21 grams of fentanyl mixture, 13 grams of methamphetamines, 51 grams of marijuana, a 9 mm pistol, a large sum of cash, and assorted drug paraphernalia.
Ultimately Terrell Kelly was arrested the same day and charged with drug trafficking synthetic marijuana, drug trafficking fentanyl mixture, unlawful possession with intent to distribute a controlled substance (methamphetamine), first-degree possession of marijuana, certain persons forbidden to possess a firearm, possession of drug paraphernalia, and attempting to elude law enforcement officers.
Kelly’s total bond for all seven charges was set at $230,000. As of press time he remained in custody at the Coosa County Jail awaiting trial.
Also arrested on the scene was 39-year-old Octavious Edison, who was charged with possession of a controlled substance.
His bond was set at $5,000, and he was released on bond the following day to await trial.
Sheriff Michael Howell and the Sheriff’s Office recognized the joint effort that helped lead to these arrests, and they thank those who played a part and worked hard on this case.
Anyone who suspects or observes illegal activity is encouraged to report it to the Coosa County Sheriff’s Office at 256-377-4922 or online at www.coosacountyso.org. Anonymous tips are also welcome.
