Three arrested on contraband charges near Ventress Correctional Facility

On Monday, November 24, a trespasser was reported at Ventress Correctional Facility. Agents with K-9 and the Law Enforcement Services Division responded to the area.
The suspected vehicle that dropped off the trespasser, a red Hyundai Tucson, was located on Highway 51 near William Mill Pond Road.
The driver was identified as Kenya Davis, and the passenger was identified as Thomas Hollis. During a search of the car, contraband items were discovered.
The trespasser was also located and identified as Miami Thomas. He had a backpack containing contraband.
Confiscated contraband included:
• 24 cell phones
• 2 knives
• Approximately 368 grams of marijuana
All three suspects were arrested and transported to the Barbour County Jail without incident.
Thomas was charged with first- and second-degree promoting prison contraband, first-degree possession of marijuana and conspiracy to commit a controlled substance crime.
Davis and Hollis were charged with first- and second-degree promoting prison contraband, first-degree possession of marijuana, conspiracy to commit a controlled substance crime, and possession/receipt of contraband.
The LESD investigation is ongoing, and additional charges may be pending.
