Melinda Sue Smith

Melinda Sue Smith, of Goodwater, died at Coosa Valley Medical Center in Sylacauga on November 7, 2025.

She was born in Chicago, Ill., in 1966 to Moody Colquitt and Nellodean Cranford.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Nellodean Cranford; father, Moody Colquitt; brothers, James Terry Colquitt and Ricky Colquitt; and stepfather, Michael Cunniff.

Melinda is survived by her husband, Tim Smith; daughters, Michelle Smith, Amanda Bassett (Patrick), Tashia Smith, Virginia Smith, and Abbeie Smith; siblings, Tony Colquitt, Randy Simmons, Jerry Simmons, Willodean Moore (Mike), and Rosie Fallon (Elvin); five grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and an abundance of nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life will be held on December 6, 2025, at 1 p.m. at Mt. Olive Community Center.
