September 19

The Coosa County Extension Office will hold a 4-H membership drive on Friday, September 19, from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. in front of Rockford Town Hall. Public and home school parents of Coosa County are encouraged to visit this membership enrollment interest event. Coosa 4-H is for ages 5-17 years old, and there are no membership fees. September 20

Bibb Graves Community Center Car Show and Swap Meet will be held Saturday, Sept. 20, 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Rainout date is Sept. 27. There will be 50/50, Money Tree, Door Prizes, Wipe Out Board, Food Trucks, Craft Vendors, and more. Car and vendor registration is $25. Reverse drawing tickets for sale until 10 a.m. with $25 per ticket or five for $100. Reverse drawing will be $1,500 for first place and $1,000 for second place. Located in Millerville on Highway 9 between Ashland and Goodwater. Walk-in attendance free. For more information contact Richard Bearden at 256-596-0073.

 

September 23

The Coosa County Republican Party meeting will be held on Tuesday, September 23, at the E-911 building, located at 65 Communication Drive in Rockford. It will begin at 6 p.m. with refreshments, with the meeting beginning at 6:30 p.m.

 

September 26

Save the Date: The J. D. Thompson High School Alumni Association is pleased to invite you to a special unveiling ceremony of the Historical Marker for the Coosa County Training School. The ceremony will take place on September 26, 2025, at 10 a.m. The event will be held at the J. D. Thompson Alumni elementary building located in the Cottage Grove Community, 1854 Coosa County Road 93, Kellyton, Ala. 35089.

 

October 2025

October 2-4

Marble Valley Volunteer Fire Department will host its 12th Annual Open House and Yard Sale from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. October 2-4, at 2373 Coosa County Road 5, Sylacauga, 35151 (also known as Marble Valley Road). Come join us for our open house! There will be a daily drawing – one ticket per person, per day. Cost is free, and you do not have to be present to win. 100% of all yard sale proceeds go to the fire department. To schedule a donation drop off call Lester or Karen at 256-249-4996 or 256-404-2057. All donations are tax deductible.

 

October 6

In honor of October being Domestic Violence Awareness Month, please join us for a Domestic Violence Awareness Class on Monday, October 6, from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Goodwater Youth Development Center, located at 166 Harris Street. For more information call Shannon at 256-377-4713.

Weekly

The Goodwater Youth Development and Recreational Center is open to the public weekly on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., and practice days for the travel ball team are those same days from 5 to 6 p.m. Cheerleader practice is held on Wednesdays and Fridays. Monthly

Richville Neighborhood Watch will be held the first Thursday of each month at the fire department, 13185 Coosa County Rd. 14, Rockford, 35136. The gathering begins with a potluck meal at 6 p.m., and the meeting begins at 6:30 p.m. Come out and see what is happening in your community.

Monthly breakfast returns to West Coosa Senior Center! The West Coosa Senior Center in Stewartville will host breakfast on the fourth Saturday of each month from 7-10 a.m. at the center, located at 47 Coosa County Road 70, Sylacauga, 35151 (the old Stewartville School). Breakfast is $8 per plate with choice of ham, bacon, sausage, eggs, gravies, and more! Dine in or call ahead at 256-249-2024 to carry out. Donations appreciated! Breakfast will be served monthly now through October, with it not being held in November or December.

West Coosa Friday Night Dance & Dine will be held the second Friday of each month at the West Coosa Senior Center! Live oldies music by The Misfitz Band, Potluck supper – bring your favorite covered dish to share. Doors open at 5 p.m., and supper starts at 5:15 p.m. Admission is FREE! This is a family friendly event – no alcohol! Friday Night Dance & Dine is proudly sponsored by J&J Pest Away. The senior center is located at 47 Coosa County Road 70, Stewartville, 35151.

 

Quarterly

The Hanover Community Club and Neighborhood Watch will now hold quarterly gatherings at Andrews Chapel. These quarterly gatherings are held on the third Tuesday of March, June, September, and December at Andrews Chapel Fellowship Hall at 6 p.m. Everyone is cordially invited and encouraged to attend. Y’all come!
