Randall Lewis is running for mayor of the Town of Rockford and would appreciate your vote at the polls Tuesday, August 26.
A lifelong resident of Rockford, Lewis has served as mayor for four terms and served one term on the Town Council.
Additionally, Lewis was a member of the Gas and Water Board for four years and has volunteered with the Rockford Volunteer Fire Department for more than 20 years.
When it was in operation, he was a coach and treasurer for the Coosa County Little League, as well. As another part of his community service, he was a volunteer coach with Rockford and Coosa Central for baseball and football, and he has helped Coosa Upward Sports with umpiring.
While he was mayor, his administration started these events: Veterans Day celebration, Rockford Spring Fling, Magnolia Trail, Yard of the Month, Cops Day/Night Out, Halloween Carnival, and Movie Night.
He and his administration also worked with the Coosa County Extension Office for playground upgrades and the once monthly farmers market.
“We gave the old Rockford Elementary School to the Coosa County Commission for the E-911 Center and the old Rockford school library for the Paul Perrett Senior Center,” he said.
Additionally he and his administration completed infrastructure work on the town’s properties, such as roofs, new lighting, paint, flooring, fixing the sidewalks, and sealing Town Hall from leaks.
During his first term as mayor, Lewis also installed new signs in town. He also put in an access road at Spring Street.
While on the council and as mayor, Lewis worked with the County Commission, Sheriff’s Office and the Rockford Gas and Water Board.
When he was mayor, the town also had an animal control officer and an agreement with the Alexander City Animal Shelter for dogs.
“Under my administration we had only two police chiefs – that’s 16 years,” Lewis said. “We also had zero ethics violations.”
Lewis worked for Avondale Mills, which later became Parkdale Mills. He now works with the Alabama Department of Transportation.
Randall is married to Rebecca Lewis, and the couple attends Sardis Baptist Church. Together they have four children and two grandchildren, and another on the way.
“I want to see the town prosper,” Lewis said. “I would appreciate your vote and support on August 26.”
