NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING AND PUBLIC COMMENT PERIOD

COOSA COUNTY COMPREHENSIVE SOLID WASTE MANAGEMENT PLAN 2025 – 2035

The Coosa County Commission hereby provides notice of a public hearing related to the development of its comprehensive solid waste management plan. The Public Hearing will include, but will not be limited to, landfill management, waste collection, recycling, composting,
dump abatement, and other waste management alternatives which have been affected by §§22-27-40, et seq., Code of Alabama (1975), and which will be affected by the promulgation of Subtitle D of the Resource and Conservation and Recovery Act administered by the United
States Environmental Protection Agency. Public Comment Period begins August 8, 2025, and ends September 9, 2025, at 9:00 a.m.
A copy of the proposed Coosa County Comprehensive Solid Waste Management Plan 2025 – 2035, may be reviewed on weekdays, during normal business hours of 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., at the following location:

NOTICE OF TIMBER SALE

The University of Alabama will offer merchantable timber for sale, as designated by the
University Forester, on tracts located in Coosa, Jefferson, Tuscaloosa, and Walker Counties.
The timber will be sold by sealed bids which will be publicly opened at the Office of University
Lands and Real Estate Services, on the University of Alabama campus, 1115 14 th Street,
Tuscaloosa, AL  35401, at 10:00 a.m. on September 25, 2025. Bids should be delivered to that office on or before that time, sent by email to bmfox@ua.edu , or sent by mail to The University of Alabama, Attn: University Lands and Real Estate Services, P.O. Box 870176, Tuscaloosa, Alabama 35487-0176. Only bids which are submitted on the bid form prepared by the Office of University Lands and Real Estate Services will be considered. No verbal or phone bids will be accepted. If a bid is mailed, the bid should be posted in sufficient time to ensure its receipt prior to the bid submission deadline of 10:00 a.m., September 25, 2025. Mailed bids should be marked “TIMBER BID, 9-25-25 ‘ in the lower left-hand corner to ensure bid security.
A Performance Deposit in the amount of $3,500 will be required of the successful bidder to
guarantee its fulfillment of the terms of the sale contract. The deposits will be required at the
time of execution of the timber contract. Consideration and approval of the successful bid
will be performed September 25, 2025, by the University of Alabama Forester, to ensure
the bids meet the proposed estimates approved by the University of Alabama Board of
Trustees.
Purchaser of the timber and logging contractor (if not the same) must carry workman’s
compensation insurance and both vehicular and general liability insurance in amounts of not
less than $1,000,000 personal damage and $1,000,000 property damage. Purchaser and
logger (if not the same) will add University as additional named insured on insurance. A
certificate of insurance will be required upon the execution of the contract of sale.
It shall be the responsibility of the bidder to determine to his own satisfaction the volume of the timber offered for sale.
The University reserves the right to accept or reject any or all bids and to waive any formalities.
