Special to the News
The senior year is filled with many milestones, and our seniors reached two of them this week.
Senior gentlemen took their formal tux pictures while the ladies took their formal drape pictures this week. Every Central High School senior girl received a necklace as a gift to wear during the formal drape photoshoot.
The formal tux and drape pictures will be featured in “The Coosa County News” in May as Central High School formally announces the graduating class of 2026.
Seniors also marked another milestone this week by completing their voter registration forms. A special thank you to Mrs. Reichert in the Coosa County Registrar’s office, who always goes above and beyond to help our seniors register to vote.
The voter registration drive coincides with the lessons government students have been learning. Last week they learned about the basic functions of government such as maintaining order, providing public services, providing national security, and maintaining a stable economy.
The students demonstrated their knowledge by creating a stamp collection of the functions of government for the United States Postal Service.
This week the students are learning that as a citizen, they also have a part to play in maintaining a healthy democratic republic like the United States, which includes duties such as serving as a juror, as well as responsibilities such as voting.
We are thankful to play a part in the memories and experiences our seniors will take with them into adulthood.
