Union Square News

A week of comments, remarks, responses, or whatever you might want to say. It’s all good.
I liked the columns written last week and truly enjoyed Pastor Bass of Rockford Church of Christ’s part two of “Raising our children.” All parents should focus on this column Bass wrote, whether grown or not, especially where he said “setting a Godly example for our children by the way we live.”
Communicate with them about the things that are on their minds, know your children’s friends, teaching them respect, honesty, discipline, etc.
Children need to be given responsibility and need more than just things such as toys, clothes, food, cars, etc. They need a lot of love and attention. A great column by Pastor Bass.
And “Sean of the South” by Sean Dietrich is hard to describe the wisdom and knowledge he pours out. His column titled “Be all that you can be” blessed me!
Sean said you can be anything you want in this life. You can always be right. You can be other things, too. You can also be what other people want you to be. Be committed to all causes but your own, or you can just be yourself.
Be comfortable with who you are. Be part of the solution rather than the problem. Sean said you can even choose to be sick physically (LOL).
Being sick is a choice. Even when your body is unwell, even when yours is failing you, you can still choose what you will be!
I also loved his column “I have no fight left.” It was funny.
And Jodi McDade’s “In my Humble Opinion” titled “Why, why, why” – Jodi answered most of her whys herself.
She asked why are things the way they are, what can we do to fix it, who will step forward and lead us out of this negativity, and where will the change start? She answered and said it needs to start inside each of us and spread to our families and friends.
Be more involved in major decisions of who we elect to represent us and make the decisions that effect all of us every day, and need to start with returning to God, asking Him to heal our country and putting Him as the most important part of our lives!
That is so true. Too many of us have our own gods and worshiping man.
Jodi asked why are so many people against our law enforcement, first responders and firefighters, which is a shame. But think about it and you will find your answer. “Guilty” played a big part of the ones who are against law enforcement.
We pray for the Gilbert family in the loss of Mr. Leon Gilbert. Our hearts are so broken, and also for the family of John Riley (Spencer Hardy’s brother-in-law), who passed soon after his wife, Wilhelmina, passed. We also pray for all others who are mourning a loss.
Happy birthday, July babies.
“God is a keeper.”
