Breaking: Equality man killed in Rockford area crash

A single-vehicle crash that occurred at approximately 5 p.m. Wednesday, July 16, has claimed the life of an Equality man.
Edward L. Gilbert, 62, was fatally injured when the 2015 Chevrolet Impala he was driving left the roadway and struck a tree. Gilbert was not using a seat belt at the time of the crash and was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The crash occurred on Alabama Highway 22 near the 99-mile marker, approximately three miles east of Rockford, in Coosa County.
Nothing further is available as troopers with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s Highway Patrol Division continue to investigate.
