Neighborhood Watch to meet Thursday

It stopped raining enough for the lawn to get mowed and some yard work done. I had to take three showers because of the humidity, dirt and insects, but it was nice to get the yard cleaned up.
I still need to get into the garden and clean it up as invasive weeds have taken over, and I’m not sure what crops I have left other than sunchokes.
At Jenny’s General and Coosa County Live buildings we have started the installation of a mini split heat pump. We have the inside unit installed and are now waiting on the electrical AC cut-off panel to complete the installation. I sure hope this resolves our AC issues we have been suffering, as well as conserving energy.
Herb and spice sales have picked up as word-of-mouth advertising is getting around. To help let more folks know we are having the window painted so as folks drive by, they see that Jenny’s General has herbs and spices and is not a thrift or rummage store.
We learned we did not receive the small business grant so the update to the septic system is not going to happen in the near term.
Want farm-fresh eggs? Then visit one of the two egg stands in Equality. One is on County Road 4 at the Allen Farm, and you will have to pull in their driveway. The stand sits just right of their gate, so no need to go through the gate.
They carry both hatching and eating eggs from chickens, quail and sometimes turkey. I believe for the hatching eggs you have to request them ahead of time so they don’t go in the cooler.
The other is on Loboe between Self and Forbus roads with fresh chicken eggs. So, no matter what side of town you are on there are farm-fresh eggs available, and both have honor boxes so please do the right thing and pay for what you take.
The Neighborhood Watch meeting is the fourth Thursday of the month, which is June 26 at 6:30 at Equality VFD Lodge. Everyone is welcome to come fellowship with the community and find out what is happening in Coosa County.
Bring yourself, bring a dish if you wish, or donate toward all the food we know Dave Dial is going to prepare for everyone – no obligation or requirement, just come! Have a good day and be safe!
I depend upon my readers to share with me what is happening within your organizations, churches, neighborhoods, groups, or family to share in next week’s column. Please contact me; leave a voice message or text 256-531-6460 or email at coosacafe@gmail.com.
