A man and woman were arrested earlier this month, each on a drug-related charge, following a joint investigation by the Coosa County Department of Human Resources and the Sheriff’s Office.
On June 3, a local DHR representative provided the Sheriff’s Office with information relating to drug usage in a home with a minor child inside.
A home study was conducted by DHR, and hair samples were taken from two adults and one child. All three tested positive for drugs.
The child’s results came back as 990 pg/mg for amphetamine and 30,002 pg/mg for methamphetamine, with pg/mg being picograms per milligram. A DHR representative stated that was the highest amount they had ever seen reported on a minor.
The child was relocated, and the two adults were arrested on June 13.
Brittany Dawn Lashley, 26 years old, and Johnny Glen Hall, 72 years old, were both arrested by Chief Deputy Scott Hammond and each charged with chemical endangerment of a child.
Lashley’s bond was set at $10,000, and as of press time she remained in custody at the Coosa County Jail awaiting trial.
Hall’s bond was also set at $10,000, but he was released on bond the same day to await trial.
Anyone who observes or suspects illegal activity is encouraged to report it to the Coosa County Sheriff’s Office at 256-377-4922 or online at www.coosacountyso.org. Anonymous tips are also welcome.
