The Sheriff’s Office held the “Battle of the Brave” charity softball tournament last Friday night, with law enforcement and first responders battling it out on the ball field to see who would come out victorious.
With a “best of three” game format, the Sheriff’s Office walked away the champions. Game one ended with the first responders scoring 19 points to the Sheriff’s Office 10 points, while game two saw a score of 22-10 with the Sheriff’s Office winning it.
The deciding game determined the winners with just a one-point lead, with the Sheriff’s Office winning 18-17 in a nail-biting finish.
Thanks to the support of attendees and donors, the tournament raised more than $800 for the 2025 Shop with the Sheriff program coming up this holiday season.
Sheriff Michael Howell thanks everyone who made the event possible and especially thanked the Coosa County firefighters, EMS and first responders who participated. He also extended his appreciation to the Sheriff’s Office staff for participating and working during the games.
Howell also thanked District 3 County Commissioner John Forbus for his sponsorship and Superintendent of Education David Stover and his wife, Debi, for their monetary donation and helping put on the tournament.
“Thank you to everyone who came to watch and support both teams,” Howell said. “None of this would be possible without all of you. We can’t wait for next year.”
