An inmate was arrested Monday on a contraband charge following a drug test.
Chief Deputy Scott Hammond reported that on May 2 deputies were called to the Sheriff’s Office because of two inmates testing positive for controlled substances after being given random drug tests.
The inmates were searched prior to being put on lockdown, and numerous contraband items were found in one of the inmate’s cells.
The case was turned over to Investigations. Upon their review of camera footage and statements, 38-year-old Brandon Scott Acklin of Sylacauga was arrested May 12 and charged with second-degree promoting prison contraband.
His bond for that charge was set at $5,000. He has since been released to another jurisdiction.
Acklin was in custody at the Coosa County Jail for theft and breaking and entering charges from a case in October.
