The Buzz
Buzzy the Buzzard
Y’all do understand that 75 to 80 percent of adults feel a need for community newspapers? They are a trusted source of information, more so than national papers, national broadcasts and social media.
Why? They provide facts and accountability. With each edition, their reputation is on the line with people they know and see every day.
I think I have made the point that, with the vast sea of information, the editors gather what’s relevant and filter out what is not. I think I have also made the point that community newspapers are financially dependent on legal notices, as well as business advertising and subscriptions.
Ms. Christa would like for me to point out the difference between a journalist and a columnist. Journalists deal with facts, put together to make stories. Columnists deal with views, information and opinions put together to make a point. “The News” is a bit heavy on columns, but we hope you enjoy reading them. Our columnists are volunteers and community members. Each one reaches out to the community with their view.
Enjoy!
Buzzy
