The Coosa County Association of Scenic Waterways is busily planning and making preparations for the 2025 Creek Run Festival, with prizes steadily arriving for giveaways.
The association will have several drawings to win prizes, and each participant will be entered to win. Drawings will be held on the day of the float with multiple prizes available, including coolers, cups and a kayak attachment. One prize to be given away is a 24-can soft RTIC cooler valued at $200.
The Creek Run Festival, a one-day float along Hatchet Creek, will be held May 17. Participants will put in at Kings Bridge outside of Rockford and take out at Double Bridges in the Richville area.
Put in will begin at 7 a.m., and the float is expected to be approximately a 6-hour kayaking or canoeing trip down Hatchet Creek.
The timing of the float in the spring means paddlers should be able to enjoy a scenic float filled with beautiful Cahaba lilies, as well as waterfalls and other breathtaking views along the creek.
This is a rain or shine event, and first responders will be on hand as safety paddlers to assist with the safety of all participants.
The Creek Run Festival is an event for ages 12 and older, and all participants under 18 years old must have an adult to accompany them during the float.
The association’s Board of Directors set the registration fee to be the same as last year, meaning the registration fee for the Creek Run Festival only is $30, or interested participants can pay a $50 registration fee to include the float fee and membership with the CCASW.
Registration includes shuttle service, live music and a gift bag that will include a 2025 Creek Run Festival T-shirt, 20-liter dry bag and cell phone protector.
Snacks will be available for paddlers, and food will once again be provided at the take-out spot with barbecue sandwiches from Triple R Cafe. The meal is also included in the registration fee.
During a previous meeting, the Board also approved renting two portable restrooms and one wash station to be set up at the Double Bridges take-out spot.
Registration for this year’s Creek Run Festival is now open, and online registration is available at www.ticketleap.events/tickets/creek-run-festival/2025. Registrants are asked to include their shirt size in their registration, and any who register after May 3 will be “first come, first serve” on available shirt sizes.
Anyone interested in participating in the Creek Run Festival May 17 or who would like to be a sponsor for the float can email coosawaterways@yahoo.com for more information.
Those interested in joining the CCASW or renewing their membership can do so at a rate of $50 for family (adults only), $10 for youth, $25 for individuals, and $100 for a business, club, or corporation. All membership types come with full voting privileges, except for the youth category.
To join the Association of Scenic Waterways, reach out to the contact information above for more details, or visit the Facebook page at Coosa County Scenic Waterways to download the membership form. Checks for membership can be made payable to Coosa County Association of Scenic Waterways (CCASW) and mailed to P.O. Box 156; Rockford, AL 35136.
