Faith plays a pivotal role in Christianity. That is the way God designed the plan of salvation.
It comes only through faith in God’s grace. We must repent of our sins and believe that Jesus Christ paid the price for them at Calvary.
Without faith in God’s Word, there is no salvation.
Consider a couple of Bible verses regarding the belief system: “But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.” (Hebrews 11:6). “For by grave ye are saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God.” (Ephesians 2:9).
The intriguing aspect is that faith is temporary. Eventually, it will give way to sight for those who love and serve God through Jesus Christ.
As it stands now, we walk by faith, not by sight.
But the time will come when we see Jesus! Oh, I want to see Him, look upon His face!
1 Peter 1:8-9 states, “Whom having not seen, ye love; in whom, though now ye see him not, yet believing, ye rejoice with joy unspeakable and full of glory: Receiving the end of your faith, even the salvation of your souls.”
There is an end to faith, and that is when we make it into Heaven to be with the Lord. For the Christian, to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord.
The word “continue” comes into mind at this point. We are still here on Earth on this journey with the Lord.
We haven’t made it yet. Do you know there is a starting point for those who believe in Christ? It comes by faith in God.
It began when Jesus delivered us from the miry clay of sin. Jesus is the author and finisher of our faith.
It started with the Lord Jesus, and it will finish with Him. To those who are presently running this race, we are now at the in-between stage of the beginning of our faith and the end of it.
It is a crucial time. That is why we constantly look unto Jesus.
As Paul quickly realized at his conversion on the road to Damascus, the Lord has a purpose for our lives.
After he encountered the Lord, Paul simply asked, “Lord, what would you have me to do?”
God had plenty for Paul to do.
Our Christian walk is no different and requires service to God, according to His will. We’ve got to continue with the Lord.
The Bible states, “And you, that were sometime alienated and enemies in your mind by wicked works, yet now hath he reconciled – In the body of his flesh through death, to present you holy and unblameable and unreprovable in his sight: If ye continue in the faith grounded and settled, and be not moved away from the hope of the gospel, which ye have heard, and which was preached to every creature which is under heaven; whereof I Paul am made a minister.” – Colossians 1:20-22.
In this race, the devil attempts to derail us – and get us off course. But we’ve got to keep our eyes on the Lord and His Word.
“Take heed unto thyself and unto the doctrine; continue in them: for in doing this thou shalt both save thyself, and them that hear thee.” – I Timothy 4:16.
As his race was nearing the end, Paul felt confident that he had followed God’s will for his life.
“For I am now ready to be offered, and the time of my departure is at hand. I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith.” (II Timothy 4:7)
Because of that, a crown of righteousness awaited him.
He wanted to hear those words – “well done, thou good and faithful servant.”
