Coach Flowers has been a physical education teacher at Central for one year, as well as the head football coach and assistant middle school basketball coach. Although Coach Flowers has only been with us for one year, he has 15 years of experience in education, as well as 10 years experience as a head high school football coach.
When asked about his philosophy, Coach Flowers said, “I believe in fostering a positive and inclusive environment where every student is encouraged to be physically active, engage in healthy behaviors and develop a love for movement.”
He added that his teaching philosophy is grounded in the following principles, Promoting Lifelong Fitness and Health, Fostering a Growth Mindset, Inclusivity and Individualized Learning, Emphasizing Teamwork and Social Skills, and encouraging a fun and safe environment.
What Coach Flowers most loves about teaching is the opportunity to make a positive and lasting impact on his students’ lives. He said, “There is something incredibly fulfilling about watching students grow, not just in their knowledge or skills, but also in their confidence, curiosity and passion for learning. In physical education, especially, I get to see students develop a lifelong love for movement, teamwork and healthy living. It’s also deeply rewarding to witness those ‘aha’ moments when a student masters a skill they’ve been struggling with, or when they realize they can do something they once thought was beyond their ability. The connections I build with students, the laughter and energy in the gym and knowing that I’m helping them become healthier, more confident individuals – that’s what I love most about teaching.”
