Prattville pursuit leads to Montgomery crash

On Wednesday, February 26, at approximately 4:19 p.m. troopers with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s (ALEA) Highway Patrol Division assisted the Prattville Police Department with the pursuit of a Toyota Camry on Interstate 65 near the 183-mile marker in Autauga County.
The pursuit continued through the City of Montgomery and surrounding areas. Eventually the driver of the Toyota crashed with a commercial motor vehicle on U.S. Highway 231 near the 164-mile marker in Montgomery County.
The crash resulted in the injury of the driver, as well as a passenger in the Toyota. The driver of the Toyota was transported to Baptist Medical Center South for treatment. The passenger was transported by helicopter to the University of Alabama Birmingham (UAB) Hospital for treatment.
A multitude of law enforcement agencies responded to assist with the pursuit, as well as the crash. Troopers with ALEA’s Highway Patrol and Marine Patrol divisions responded, special agents with ALEA’s State Bureau of Investigation (SBI), ALEA’s Aviation Unit, officers with the Metro Area Crime Suppression Unit (MACS), officers with the Montgomery Police Department, deputies with the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office, as well as officers with the Prattville Police Department, all assisted during the course of the incident.
Nothing further was available as of press time as the investigation is ongoing.
