A routine traffic stop led to the arrest of a Titus man on meth-related charges late last month.
Chief Deputy Scott Hammond reported that while on routine patrol on December 30, Deputy Payton saw a vehicle traveling on the highway with its headlights out. Payton initiated his lights and pulled the vehicle over.
The driver had a passenger in the vehicle with him, and both were detained. Payton proceeded to conduct a probable cause search of the vehicle.
That search led to him finding a clear glass pipe commonly used for smoking methamphetamine. Additionally, in the center console he found a bag containing a clear crystal-like substance that field tested positive for meth.
Ultimately Payton recovered 1.49 grams of meth, a clear glass pipe and three open bottles of vodka from the vehicle.
Robert Allen Hannon, 59 years old, was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance and use or possession with intent to use drug paraphernalia.
Hannon’s total bond was set at $7,500. He was released on bond on January 3 to await trial.
The passenger was not arrested and did not face any charges.
