A two-vehicle crash that occurred at approximately 5 p.m. Saturday, January 18, has claimed two lives.
Kelderick J. Williams, 34, of Vestavia Hills, was fatally injured when the 2003 BMW 325xi that he was driving was struck by the 2021 Nissan Murano driven by James W. Thrasher, 73, of Oxford.
Williams was not using a seat belt at the time of the crash and was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Linda J. Thrasher, 70, of Oxford, who was a passenger in the Murano, was transported to Elmore County Hospital in Wetumpka, where she later succumbed to injuries and was pronounced deceased. James W. Thrasher was also injured and transported to Baptist Medical Center South in Montgomery for treatment.
The crash occurred on U.S. Highway 231 near the 181-mile marker, approximately six miles south of Rockford, in Coosa County. Nothing further is available as troopers with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s (ALEA) Highway Patrol Division continue to investigate.
