A few years ago I arrived at a football game early while the workers were still setting up the concession stand on the visitor side. It was at Carbon Hill, Alabama. As I was walking by the concession stand I was just making conversation and asked the lady how she was doing. She said, “I’m doing okay, but this is the 85th day of August.”
Before I could ask her what she meant she explained, “31 days in August, 30 days in September, four days in October, and it has been over 90 degrees every day.”
