Searching the Scriptures

Jesus came to this earth in order to “seek and save that which was lost” (Luke 19:10). He
was willing to leave a wonderful home in heaven, a loving Father and all the blessings of deity in
order to provide salvation for us!
Even though we are unworthy, Jesus was willing to die in “our place” to satisfy the demands of justice. We read in I John 4:10, “Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins.”
The word “propitiation” means “atonement; to remit or cover.” Our Lord was despised, hated, betrayed, and crucified on the cross because of OUR sins. Does the story of the old rugged cross bring tears to our eyes and sorrow to our hearts OR has our heart become hardened? What is our reaction to the cross of Christ? Each day we are growing older, this question ought to concern us more and more.
In the long ago Pilate was faced with the decision of what to do with Jesus (Matthew 27:22). Even though he knew that Jesus was innocent, he gave Jesus to his enemies to be be crucified.
Judas was faced with the same question. But for thirty pieces of silver (the price of a common slave) he betrayed our Lord (Luke 22:4-6).
The question for today is, “What will YOU do with Jesus?”
“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth on him should not perish, but have everlasting life” (John 3:16).
Paul wrote, “For when we were yet without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly. For scarcely for a righteous man will one die: yet peradventure for a good man some would even dare to die. But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ DIED FOR US”(Romans 5:6-8). What will YOU do with Jesus?
Jesus said, “If ye love me, keep my commandments” (John 14:15). Do you love Jesus? Do you obey His commandments?
Jesus said, “But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you” (Matthew 6:33). Are you putting Jesus and his kingdom (church) FIRST in your life? Today, we are faced with the same question that Pilate and Judas were confronted with; what to do with Jesus. How will YOU answer? The Bible says, “Behold, now is the accepted time, behold, now is the day of salvation” (2 Corinthians 6:2). Search the Scriptures!
To begin your obedience, you must first become a Christian. You must believe that Jesus is the Son of God (Mark 16:16); repent of your sins (repentance is a change of heart that results in a change of life) (Luke 13:3,5); confess your faith (Acts 8:37; Matthew 10:32,33); and be baptized (immersed – Romans 6:4) for the remission of your sins (Acts 2:38; 22:16). As a Christian, a child of God, you must then live faithfully according to the teaching of the New Testament (Revelation 2:10).
What will you do with Jesus? Jesus said, “Search the scriptures, for in them you think you have eternal life and these are they which testify of me” (John 5:39).
