Cynthia “Cynt” Burton

A Celebration of Life for our beloved Cynthia “Cynt” Burton was held Sunday, July 14, 2024, at New Home Missionary Baptist Church in Rockford with Dr. Melvin Ervin, pastor of Macedonia Baptist Church, officiating the service. Interment followed at Corinth Missionary Baptist Church in Kellyton.
Cynthia Burton, daughter of the late Bennie L. Pearson and Johnnie Lee Burton, was born on December 20, 1953, in Kellyton. She was a devoted mother, sister, grandmother, auntie, and friend. She attended J.D. Thompson and graduated from Goodwater High School in 1972.
Cynthia’s career was spent in retail. If you graced the doors of the Golden Rule you were greeted with a smile. If you happened to stop by Fred’s she’d give exceptional service, and you would be left with a funny story to tell. Whenever you visited Goody’s you came out with a great deal and a wardrobe to match.
Cynthia was a very driven and independent woman. She was the prime example of what hard work and dedication look like. She was that person you could call when you needed a good laugh or just a listening ear (but she was always going to have her opinion!). She was a diehard Facebook connoisseur. You could always expect an uplifting and positive message.
Cynthia’s book of life closed on Sunday, July 7, 2024, at 8:40 p.m. She was called to her heavenly home to begin her service among the angels.
Cynthia Burton leaves to cherish her memories, her bonus mother, Mrs. Annie Pearl Pearson; her daughter, LeTricia Kelly of Kellyton; her son, Gerroald Russell of Atlanta, Ga.; her brothers, Sanford L. Jones of Childersburg, M. Wade Jones (Gwen) of Titus, Wendell Jones of Rockford, Jethro Jones of Cincinnati, Ohio, and Kem Pearson of Washington, D.C.; her sisters, Yolanda Jones-Colton (Greg) of Newnan, Ga., Denise McClain of Goose Creek, S.C., Valerie Gaddis (Willie) of Woodbridge, Va., Beverly Evans of Youngstown, Ohio, and Annette Pearson of Macedonia, Ohio; seven grandchildren, Galyn Meek, Jakiah Russell, Armoney Hush-Russell (Jailen), Jamiah Russell, Jania Kelly, JaQuan Russell, and Josiah Gray; seven great-grandchildren, Izzy Meek, London Meek, Princeton Hush-Russell, Jaxson Hush-Russell, Neveah Hush-Russell, Jordan Russell, and Alani Alize; and a host of special nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
