Jerry Wiley McDonald
Jerry Wiley McDonald, age 73, of Sylacauga, passed away on Tuesday, April 16, 2024.
Jerry is survived by his wife, LaVerne McDonald; eight children, Kim McDonald Yoder (Jimmy), Wendy Lynn McDonald, Jeremy Wade McDonald, Wendy Jacks Scripps (Lance), Adam Phillip McDonald, Jason Billy Jacks (Jeanna), Brandon Scott McDonald, Dakota Wiley McDonald (Loren); and eighteen grandchildren, Jessica Stanley (Preston), Danielle Yoder (Rachel), Travis McDonald, Madeline McDonald, Kaylin McDonald, Tristan Scripps, Samantha Yoder, Atticus Jacks, Jorja Yoder, Rowan Scripps, Addison Stanley, Mac Yoder, August Jacks, John Wiley McDonald, Kai Stanley, Eira McDonald, Ansley Stanley, Amelia McDonald, and Maeve Wylee Yoder.
Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, Julius Wiley McDonald and Eujah Pearl Ingram; brother, Gerry Lee McDonald “Diddy Bo;” and granddaughter, Brittany Nicole Yoder.
He was a friend, father, grandfather, uncle, and brother to many others. So many called him Pawpaw. He was Santa Claus for so many. Jerry served as Union President for Local 692 International Paperworkers Union. He loved Alabama football and Coca-Cola and Ritz crackers with peanut butter.
A funeral service for Jerry will occur Friday, April 19, 2024, at 3 p.m. at Estelle Community Church, 366 Coosa County Road 35, Weogufka, AL 35183.
Jerry will be laid to rest in Estelle Community Church Cemetery, 366 Coosa County Road 35, Weogufka.

Colleen Oakes
Colleen Oakes of Sylacauga went to be with our Lord and Savior on April 13, 2024. Born on November 8, 1962, in New Orleans, Louisiana, she was a light in this world, one which continues to shine. Colleen served our Lord and others through her calling as a Licensed Practical Nurse and as a Registered Nurse. Moreover, she touched countless lives through her mentoring and leadership. Her most memorable features are her smile, her laugh, and her kindness to others. She was also a faithful member of the Central Coosa Cowboy Church and dearly loved her church family.
She was preceded in death by her father and mother, Reese and Lucy Culpepper.
Colleen is survived by her loving husband of 35 years, Brett Oakes; sons, Michael, Scott, and Daniel Oakes; and grandchildren, Tyler, Michael Paul, Noah, Lucy Jane, Harper, Marcus, Chance, and Reese Jamison Oakes, all of whom she loved unconditionally.
Services were on April 18, 2024, at Rockford Baptist Church in Rockford.
She was laid to rest at Evergreen Memorial Cemetery in Sylacauga.

James Lafayette Saffold
James Lafayette Saffold, age 79, of Goodwater, passed away on Saturday, April 13, 2024.
James is survived by his wife of 59 years, Glenda Faye Saffold; three sons, James M. Saffold (Wanda), Dan Jackson Saffold, Daral Westley Saffold; sister, Caroline Salster; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
James was preceded in death by his son, Glen Lafayette Saffold; and parents, James Albert and Julia E. Saffold.
A visitation for James was held Wednesday, April 17, 2024, at Radney-Smith Funeral Home, Sylacauga. Following the visitation was a graveside service at Mt. Olive Cemetery, Goodwater, with Bro. Joe Gardner officiating.
Serving as pallbearers were Zachary Jackson Saffold, Joshua Glenn Saffold, Hunter Laffette Saffold, James Malvin Saffold, Daral Wesley Saffold, Dan Jackson Saffold, and James Wesley Saffold.
