Alan Winter Wingfield

 

Alan Winter Wingfield, age 81, of Goodwater, passed away on Monday, January 8, 2024, at Coosa Valley Medical Center.

Alan is survived by his wife of 56 years, Dianne McEwen Wingfield; two sons, Brian Alan Wingfield (Jamie), Mark Winter Wingfield (Jessica Rushing); and six grandchildren, Emma Wingfield, Caroline Wingfield, Robert Wingfield, Raya Wingfield, Reese Wingfield, and Raegan Rushing.

Alan was preceded in death by his parents, John R. and Harriet Wingfield; and two brothers, John Robert (Jack) Wingfield and Charles William (Billy) Wingfield.

A visitation for Alan was held Thursday, January 11, 2024, at Goodwater United Methodist Church, followed by a funeral service with Rev. Tommy Thornton officiating.

Alan was laid to rest in Brownville Cemetery, Goodwater.

Alan was a respected businessman and served many years as president of Wingfield Engineering Company. Alan was a member of the Goodwater Fire Department for fifty-six years where he was fire chief for forty of those years. Alan was cofounder of Goodwater Emergency Medical Services. He served his community as Coosa County coroner for thirty-eight years and was an officer of Alabama Coroner’s Association. He was a part of Coosa County E-911 Board, Lake Martin Amateur Radio Club, Rotary Club, Fraternal Order of Police, and State Trooper Auxiliary.  He served as a scout master for Boy Scouts of America. Alan served several offices of the administrative board of Goodwater Methodist Church where he was a lifelong member.
