In My Humble Opinion
Jodi McDade
We are in the dog days of summer! This heat and humidity are relentless, and I am absolutely NOT a summer person.
But, while I am writing this, I’m at Orange Beach with my best buds enjoying a 900-feet lazy river and soaking up the sun. I am, however, looking forward to winter getting here.
Again, I have been trying to stay away from the news, but it’s like a bad wreck you just can’t help but look at. The more I see the more I realize how many of our basic rights are being attacked and threatened. For quite a while the attack has been zeroed in on our 2nd Amendment to disarm the citizenry.
Our government does not want any of us to have weapons to defend ourselves with – and it’s NOT about hunting! The goal is to arm as many agencies of the government as possible – like the 87,000 new IRS agents, etc. It might be worth your time to do a little history research and find out how all the current communist and socialist countries came into existence. It was not pretty.
The 2nd Amendment protects our most important freedom and right from the 1st Amendment – FREE SPEECH. Every one of us has the right to express our opinions – right, wrong, or indifferent. Opinions are our own personal thoughts and feelings about different topics.
It doesn’t matter if it’s religion, politics, entertainment, thoughts, liberal, conservative, communism, books, movies, news, sports – you name it! Opinions are like certain body parts – we all have them. And we are all free to express those opinions and thoughts as long as we have our 1st Amendment rights.
Even if you don’t realize it, the case against Donald Trump related to the January 6 event is about freedom of speech. The basis of the case is that by not accepting the results of the 2020 election, he instigated what happened that day. IN MY HUMBLE OPINION, the events of that day were orchestrated by non-Trump supporters who mixed in with the crowd to stop the election results from being challenged that day.
I think the instigators (leftist leaning sympathizers) were afraid enough legislators would challenge the results that the vote of the Electoral College could not be completed, and the election results would not be certified.
Now this was not something new. It had happened in other elections, most notably when two Democratic members objected to the Ohio vote for George W. Bush in the 2004 election. But those years did not see enough objections to the results to stop the certification.
In the 2020 election challenges were made to the results in Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, Nevada, and Pennsylvania, but only the ones from Arizona and Pennsylvania were being heard. This time a way to stop the possibility of one or both of those challenges being accepted was to stop the process in its tracks with the people gaining access to the Capitol. Once the hearings were restarted hours later there were no further objections, and the vote was certified.
I know I’m probably not explaining this very well, but this is a complicated issue and procedure. And you can certainly call me a conspiracy theorist if you want to – it’s your right to your opinion. Just like it’s my right to my opinion.
The media has portrayed the events of that day in several different ways from differing points of view using differing videos to interviewing witnesses who saw two differing actions taking place. The January 6 Committee showed videos of violence while Tucker Carlson showed people being escorted calmly through the Capitol building. The January 6 Committee highlighted the people who were arrested while ignoring the people actually doing the “inciting” who were NOT arrested.
Sometimes it takes time for the truth to surface through all the views that are put out for us to consider. And sometimes the truth is stranger than fiction. The news media now controls our thoughts and opinions based on the very differing sources each of us watches or listens to.
However, I am a firm believer that the media is also being used to steer us all away from the actual truth of most all events. They choose the outcome they want and then produce the evidence they want you to see.
We are all being lied to in some way by our government. Their purpose is to keep us uninformed and working against each other. And we just believe the news and keep playing right into their hands. If we could all just put aside our differences and concentrate on the things we have in common we could correct so many of the negative things going on.
Be careful driving out there – those big yellow buses are back on the roads carrying our kids to and from school!
