Union Square News

Union Square’s Neighborhood Watch meeting was short and sweet. We had three guests to attend and welcomed them with joy, candidate Jamey Johnson and Union Square’s new neighbors, Mr. Ron and Mrs. Mary Emily Jacobs.
Next month we will meet, eat and greet on July 10, a week later than usual because of the Fourth of July celebration. Make note of it.
Let’s keep our neighbors in prayer: Allen Hamilton, Lena and Patsy Johnston and all others in the community who are a little under the weather.
Thinking of you, Ms. Mable and Ms. Emogene Austin; “The Austin girls,” I call them; with love in my heart.
What will it take to have young and older people to READ more, especially the Bible and the newspaper? Short story books wouldn’t hurt, either. People have gotten away from reading. They don’t carry their Bibles anymore. Yes, I know the phone carries the word and scriptures. However, it is not the same, and it does not carry the anointment. It carries germs, gossip and more (hahaha). The Bible carries glory, and it is God’s glory! Hallelujah!
I am still laughing, because when you think of the goodness of God you can laugh when no one is tickling you! We must read to our young ones from the book. They probably can read and understand the phone better than we; however, they don’t receive the same effect of the true reading because of the shorthand we use today on the phone – terrible, but real.
We cannot spell and read properly anymore because we have turned reading over to microwave, and it’s not done. We better put reading back on the stove and let it cook well.
Bishop Demetrius Griffin and Hatchett Springs Worship Center in Goodwater held an appreciation for their musicians, Bradgel Moon, Robert Bradford and Dantavis Griffin. The guest speaker was Pastor Ivan Harris of The City of Outreach Church in Alexander City.
He spoke from Amos 5:21 and 7:10, 15; one of the shorter books of the Bible, but so much great information, and Pastor Harris gave it all! I can describe it in one word, “awesome!” I wish every church could have heard this message. It was one of the greatest messages I have heard since I have been saved, and the choir was super awesome.
Happy birthday to June babies, Anita Patterson, Peggy Crayton, Rayford Crayton, Paula Burton, Jimmy Rogers, and to all of the June babies.
Let’s keep attorney John Kelly and Linda Johnson, Carrie Tuck, Tee Pope, Sherry Hazel, and Pastor Wilbert Johnson in our prayers, as well as Madison Hill, Cathy Dennis and all our loved ones who are under the weather.
